Rainforest Recovery Center (RRC) has been serving the needs of Southeast Alaska and residents state-wide since 1980. It offers both residential and outpatient services for substance use and co-occurring mental disorders. Length of stay varies and is based on an individual plan developed with the patient and our team. RRC accepts Medicaid, private insurance, and can negotiate sliding fee payment plans.
The residential program consists of a 16-bed, co-ed, free-standing facility utilizing a Dialectical Behavior Therapy informed approach, an evidence-based treatment for substance use and many co-occurring mental health disorders. Staff includes psychiatrists, nurses, master’s and bachelor’s level counselors, behavior health associates, case managers, and activity therapists. RRC is a physician-led program where all patients receive a psychiatric evaluation and medication management appointments as needed. A discharge plan will be provided to the patient and a discharge summary is available to other providers of the patient’s choosing. We are able to treat patients with co-occurring psychiatric, medical and substance use disorders that are often declined by other facilities. We provide a safe, tobacco-free, communal environment where patients learn and practice specific coping skills to stabilize for discharge to a lower level of care.
At least 1 hour per week of individual and/or group outpatient counseling.
Designed for the specific treatment of opioid use disorder, RRC offers buprenorphine or naltrexone in conjunction with counseling, random drug screens, and medication checks (call backs). Medical and/or behavioral concerns may prevent an applicant from being accepted for this type of treatment. OBOT brochure is below.
RRC does not provide unscheduled emergency “detox” services at this facility. Please consult your medical professional immediately for treatment options, which may include admission to Bartlett Regional Hospital for withdrawal management.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, call the Alaska Careline at 1-877-266-4357, or present at the nearest hospital Emergency Department for a crisis assessment.
Admission to any of our programs requires screening and assessment by a behavioral health professional. Appointments can be made by calling 907-796-8690 during scheduled business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. If another program or level of care is considered more appropriate to meet your needs, we can assist in providing referral. Residential and/or opioid treatment requires review and approval by our physician prior to admission.
